Arguably the most important resource that keeps our current economy moving is fossil fuel in the form of oil, gas, and coal. It is the fuel that powers almost all vehicles transporting people and world’s goods and services. It is the fuel that provides electricity to major factories producing all sorts of human necessities around the world. It is indeed the fuel that strongly affects our current economy. A hike in oil prices, for example, can easily shake stocks market worldwide and send prices of goods and services spiralling up.

But here is the grim fact:

 Based on BP Statistical Review, our current proved oil reserve stands at around 1.2 trillion barrels. Current world annual oil consumption is around 30 billion barrels. Assuming there is no major oil-well discovery and no change in world oil consumption pattern, earth will be out of oil in around 40 years time! Somethings catastrophic that could happen in our life time.

Gas and coal are used in a slower pace as compared to oil. With the same production and consumption pattern, both fossil fuel could still be around for approximately 65 and 300 years respectively.

But as the world tries to reduce dependency of oil and start to use more of gas and coal, their reserve will predictably going down faster. Hence, the prospect that earth may lose all its traditional energy source by end of this century looks even far more plausible then ever.

Fortunately, the world is becoming more and more aware of this threatening fact. Scientists and engineers have worked hand in hand to come out with alternatives renewable energy resources such as solar, wind, biofuel, etc.

Yet, will they become popular fast enough to catch  up with the deteriorating of fossil fuel reserve? These alternatives resources are still relatively new to public, expensive to deploy, and may not have the same dollar and cents economic value compared with current fossil fuel. The time is limited but the task ahead is huge. Only with global consent and cooperation, the world can sustain itself and everything living on top of it. But again, it is not as if the world have much choices to choose.

Quite a shocking experience, don’t you think?

Well, domestic fight do exist in any relationship. The only thing I cannot comprehend is why they must do it in public, worse in the middle of the road, and cause such chaos and inconvenience to other people. Furthermore, based on the car their driving, I suppose they are those well educated people. At least show better manner!!! But hey, guess what you drive will not show who you really are. So girls out there, next time don’t fall easily for a guy in a convertible Merz. Hah! 

Another thing that shock me is how the guy treated his girl after the quarrel. He simply pushed her from his car onto the road and drove off. Shame on that guy! Heya all gentlemen reading this, please do not ever do that to your girlfriend, or even your ex-girlfriend. If you want her to leave your car, ask her. Don’t resort to violance.. umm.. well.. unless the woman refuses to leave.. then…. think of another way for God’s sake! Do not ever push someone out of a car!

It revolves around one huge topic which I have always been interested in: economics

And it all started with this very simple question:

Is the world economy constantly growing, or is it constantly depreciating, or is it staying constant all the time?

We all know that world economy, in general trend, is always constantly growing. There may be some market crashes or economic depression once in few years, but eventually after those corrections, world economy will grow to yet another higher level never tested before.

Then another question kicks in. How can the economy keep growing? Does the world economy follow the law of conservation of energy, that is energy can neither be created nor destroyed? In this case, does economy can keep growing by itself? Or does it grow in the expense of something else to keep it running? What is that something else?

A very tricky question.

We both conclude that the world economy does follow the law of conservation of energy. Economy cannot constanly growing without feeding on something, which, according to us, is our own earth. The world economy indeed grows in the expense of our beloved earth. Earth is the source of all raw materials needed in all industries, which move the economic wheel of a country, and eventually move the economy of the whole world.

A very scary fact, considering that we only have one earth.

Then the question, how long can the world economy keep growing? Or in other words, when will our earth fail to feed us?

Human brain is amazing. It processes billions of data and stores millions of them from the time we open our eyes in the morning. And, sometimes it even works when we are soundly asleep, far beyond our consciences. 

Our minds are indeed the most powerful element. For from one’s mind, the power to preserve and devastate originate and the history of the world is written. It was all started from Hitler’s mind that the worst humanitarian tragedy occurred in history. And it is also started from Mother Teresa’s mind that the whole world learn about the meaning of unconditional love.

Basically our mind makes us who we are.

This blog is a tribute to this most powerful element. As the world unravels day by day, I will try to share my inner-thoughts, my minds, some of which are valuable but quickly gone silent and forgotten.
